Common Courtesy Isn't So Common

Thu Jan 8, 2009, 9:08 AM
When a friend helps you with something, whatever project it may be, do you say "Thank you."? Or vise-versa, if you help a friend and they say "Thank you" do you say "You're welcome."? Even if your friend can't give you the best of help, you should still say "Thanks for helping" anways. Most people who practice common courtesy only expect this of themselves and others.
But many people, including some of the people I know, have no sense of this rule!
When I do something wrong, I don't always expect someone to accept my appology, but I do AT LEAST say that I'm sorry. Many people these days don't do that if they make a mistake.

Even on DA, I do try to reply to everyones comments, and thank people for their favorites on my work. I do appriciate them. I completely understand why you wouldn't do this, though, if you you're getting 100 comments and favorites today. It's impossible to reply to ALL of them.

But, honestly.
People should be more appriciative of other people.

What has happened to basic courtesy? When did we become so concerned with ourselves that we stopped caring about how our actions impacted others? I don’t claim to know what’s going on in society today, but I do know that there has been a significant change in attitude as I have grown older. A casual wave to a neighbor used to result in a return wave and a hello. Now it often results in a strange stare as people wonder what you are up to. A door held for a woman used to be greeted with a sincere thank you. Now, many women don’t even seem to notice that anyone is there. Society is in a hurry and few people are slowing down long enough to enjoy life, be considerate of others, and spread a little bit of goodwill.

STEAMPUNK ABE LINCOLN thanks you for the fave and encourages you to do some steampunk cosplay this year.

Your eye for potography is exquisite. Would love to have you photograph Steampunk Abe if you lived in the Southern US.

That Steampunk Abe was the coolest cosplay I think I've ever seen. I wonder what A Steampunk Link from Zelda would look like!
O.O
I think I'm going to do something of this sort for Halloween this year!
How expensive would it be, if you don't mind me asking.

And thank you, that makes me quite happy to hear.
:)
And I live in underdeveloped West Virginia.

Ah ha.
:iconstudiocreations:
I think my Steampunk Abe cost me about $100-$120 total. I had to BUY a lot of last minute things, so the cost jumped up quick. Beard was $26.00, Hat was $40, Felt for the hat, $10. I had the coat and pants. Spray paint was $25 I think (copper is not a standard color that is $1 a can). I had plastic and all the aprts of teh pack in scrap bins,s o that was basically free, if you do not have access to alot of scrap parts laying around, estimate $30 for stuff at the Dollar Stores.

Omg awesome! I guess if I really want to to do it I'll have to start working on it now.

But since everything is pretty readily available at my house, it shouldn't be that much.
But thank you so much for the information!
